Design process

Remodeling and Home Design

The Landscape Design process is typically developed over 3 stages.

1. Concept design development

2. Building approval (if required)

3. Detailed drawings for construction

Below is a list of a full set of Landscape Drawings although each and every project is different and may require only one or more of the design stages for construction to commence. This is mainly due to project location and scope of works.

  1. Concept Design
  2. 3D render images
  3. Landscape Master Plan
  4. Construction Setout Plan
  5. Sections, Elevations & Details
  6. Planting Plan
  7. Lighting Plan

This is a sample set of Landscape Drawings for a recent project where we designed the backyard area to the home.

Form, Function, Style, Pleasure

Seeking advice and choosing the right company to complete a significant piece of your dream home can seem daunting. To give you an understanding of what is  involved in this process, we have outlined below a step by step process that we will follow to ensure you are provided with quality advice and implementation, relevant to your needs.

Initial Consultation - $200 - $250+ gst for a 1 - 1.5hrs on-site meeting Brisbane & Sydney metro areas

The design process begins with an initial on-site meeting to discuss and assess in detail the areas in which you would like to develop. This is your opportunity to discuss your vision and any ideas (ie.wish list) that you already have for the area including how you wish to use the space along with the style or look you desire. This will give us a good understanding of your requirements, personal tastes and budget. We will then discuss potential spatial layout, ideas for resolving any current site issues, suitable planting species and potential products & materials etc.

Following the consultation meeting a Design Proposal will be promptly prepared and emailed to you outlining the design process and associated fees along with notes and recommendations for your project from our site meeting.

Concept Design

The creative stage where a colour concept design will be prepared according to your style and wishes and presented to you showing a detailed design layout of hard and soft areas like swimming pool, entertaining areas, paving, decking, lawn & gardens.  We also render our designs in 3D so you can see exactly how your new garden will look once completed. Planting theme, materials and finish suggestions will also be discussed as our recommendations suited to the style of your home & garden.

Building Approval eg.Development Application (DA) or Complying Development (CDC)

Once the concept design has been approved by you a DA or CDC plan must be prepared for new homes or if structural landscape components are required for approval. A proposal for preparing these plans and any required written reports for submission will be sent to you outlining the fees and approval process. The DA / CDC plan will then be prepared detailing documentation required for submission purposes.

Construction Documentation

In order for your proposed Landscape works to be constructed in accordance to the vision of the project it is important to have a full set of detailed drawings completed.  Detailed master plans, sections and elevations, construction details, plant schedule, garden lighting and product specifications will be provided in order for you to commence the tendering for construction. The fees to complete all working drawings are dependant on the level of detailing required along with the scope and size of project.

Construction & Site Visitation

Having designed your new garden with a clear vision in mind we will introduce you to our recommended contractors for the project that we have built relationships with over many years based on good communication skills, quality of workmanship and importantly maintaining the integrity of the design.

Once construction is underway we provide continual communication and site meetings throughout the construction process until completion with client and contractors which is crucial for a successful outcome.

Maintenance

Caring for your new garden is a must if you wish to see it grow and mature to the best of its ability. Even a low maintenance garden requires attention every now and then. Once your garden is complete we will introduce you to our recommended maintenance company. In our busy lifestyles gardening is usually the last thing on your mind so engaging the services of professionally trained maintenance company can mean the difference between a nice garden and the beautiful garden you always dreamed of.

A garden should be a joy to look at and a pleasure to be in no matter what the season....and get better with age if designed, built and cared for correctly.
